Will You Be Made Whole?

Updated: Nov 28, 2023

Hey Sis! I pray this note finds you well. Lately, I've been thinking about when Jesus asked the question. “Will you be made whole?"

That question resonated with me, causing me to think about the process and journey of healing and wholeness; not just for me, but for you too. The thing is, so many of us are carrying around years-old trauma and pain, some that may perhaps be as old as us. Its impact is so great that it influences and dictates our lives in major ways. When we are unhealed, we become prisoners of the past, being held captive by the moments and violations that broke us. Without healing, the cycle continues and unhealthy patterns will continue to master our lives.

Many of us are living the altered versions of who we were created to be. We live with these negative thought patterns that glorify harmful false beliefs and build narratives that support our brokenness.- “If you only knew what happened to me then you would understand why I am the way that I am.” “I use to desire marriage but after the divorce of my parents I just can't put myself in the position for it to happen to me.’ ‘I use to be straight but after the pain I experienced, I just can't trust that sex anymore." These complex and life-changing experiences can alter our views and unfortunately keep us out of the will of God for our lives. Sadly, when we are broken we tend to also break what we come in contact with and continue the cycle of brokenness. However, if we are healed, naturally those connected to us will also partake of its fruit. Understand that coming to the end of mourning doesn't necessarily mean we've also come to the end of healing. We can't be whole if we haven't yet been fully healed. Some wounds require more than a concealer. Healing isn't merely sweeping the wound under the rug to forget. It’s a process of vulnerability and honesty. It includes bringing the wounds to God- The Balm in Gilead and allowing Him to take the hurt and pain. Knowing that his virtue is enough to mend you in a way that there is no evidence that you were ever broken.

What I love about the Pool of Bethesda story is that Jesus being who he is, knew that this man had been in his state for a whole 38 years. His heart of compassion led Him to extend healing to a man who in his state for so long couldn't imagine being whole. Amid his excuses, Jesus heard a man who desired to be healed and the man saw a Savior, who simply desired the same for him. Regardless of how old the wounds that we carry, we have a Savior who can touch places within us that are out of reach to human hands. There is a healing virtue that was made available at His expense, and by His stripes, we can be healed. I know that God wants us to be whole. To be healed. To be restored to the image and likeness that He created. He wants our souls to prosper, and for us to be in good health. So take it to Him. Tell him where it still hurts and how it broke you.—Tell him how it affected you. Give Him the pain and guilt. Give Him the tears and don't stop until the burden is easy and the yoke is light. I pray that you, that we will be made whole. #ichoosehealing
